Una riflessione su come si è creata la mia sensibilità drammaturgica per la danza e su quali sono stati gli strumenti, le pratiche e le visioni che mi sono state trasmesse e che l’hanno attivata nel mio lavoro.
CROSSING DANCE DRAMATURGY- abstract – The presence of a dance dramaturg became a widespread phenomenon in the world of European Contemporary Dance in the 90’s as a response to deep structural changes in compositional processes. Dancers took on a new creative and dramaturgical identity and choreographers brought forward new collaborative compositional methods that took shape within non-linear and complex choreographic processes. Theatrical dance throughout the centuries has produced compositional practices in choreography that are historically determined. Each epoch has proposed a set of codes, conventions and relations that determined a specific dramaturgical vision. The complexity of choreographic methods and dramaturgical visions in the new millennium calls attention to the shifting identity of the dance dramaturg and to the need for dramaturgical awareness in both dancers and choreographers. Contemporary dance bodies are trained in multiple dance techniques and should be exposed to compositional practices and coached in dramaturgical awareness, making it possible for new choreographic paradigms to occupy a space and take on a physical presence.
